Toy donation programme

Every child deserves to dream, learn and play.

The toys your children have outgrown are still full of play. Send them to us and we’ll check them, clean them, and put them in the hands of a child who has been waiting for exactly that.

Why it matters

A toy is never only a toy

A child without toys isn’t just a child with less. Play is how children rehearse the world — and every child deserves that rehearsal.

To dream

A doll becomes a doctor. A block tower becomes a city. Imagination needs something to hold, and a child who has never been handed that has to invent it out of nothing.

To learn

Counting beads, sorting shapes, working out why the tower fell — this is real learning, done with the hands, long before it ever reaches a classroom.

To play

Play is how children learn to share, to lose, to try again. It builds patience and confidence — and it is simply one of the great joys of being small.

Start to finish

How donating works

Six steps, no paperwork, and you’ll hear from us at every one of them.

1

Message us

Tell us roughly what you have. A photo of the pile on the floor is plenty — you don’t need a list.

2

We guide the packing

We send a short checklist so nothing arrives broken and nothing gets lost on the way.

3

We split the shipping

We pay half the courier cost and you pay half. We tell you the exact figure before anything is booked. Why we do this

4

Pickup from your door

Once your box is ready we book the courier and send you the pickup slot. You don’t have to go anywhere.

5

We check, clean and sort

Every toy is opened, inspected and cleaned, then sorted by age so it reaches a child it actually suits.

6

A child receives it

Handed over through our NGO partners — and written up on our blog with the date, so you can see exactly where it went.

Being straight with you

Why we ask you to pay half the shipping

We could offer free pickup and it would look more generous. Here’s the honest reason we don’t.

When donation shipping costs nothing, some of what arrives isn’t a donation — it’s a free way to throw things away. Sorting and disposing of that costs money and hours that should have gone to children.

Splitting the cost is a small, fair filter. Someone who genuinely wants a child to have their toys is happy to cover half. It keeps what arrives worth giving, and it keeps our costs where they belong. We pay the other half, every time.

And if the cost is the one thing standing between you and giving — say so. We’ll work it out.

Before you pack

What we can and can’t accept

A quick check now saves a box travelling across the country for nothing.

Yes, please send

The test: if a child in your home would still enjoy it, a child in another home will too.

  • Building blocks, construction sets and magnetic tiles
  • Puzzles and board games — complete, with every piece
  • Children’s books in readable condition
  • Educational, STEM and wooden toys
  • Dolls and soft toys that are clean and undamaged
  • Battery toys that still work properly
  • Ride-ons and outdoor toys in working order
  • Art and craft supplies that are unused or barely used

Please don’t send

Not to be difficult — every one of these is a safety issue, or a dignity one.

  • Anything broken, cracked or with sharp edges
  • Puzzles, games or sets with pieces missing
  • Battery toys that don’t work, or with corroded compartments
  • Soft toys that are stained, torn or can’t be washed
  • Loose button batteries or loose small magnets
  • Car seats, cots, walkers and helmets — safety gear we can’t verify
  • Recalled toys, or anything you’re unsure about
  • Opened slime, paints or craft consumables

How to pack the box

Give them a wipe

A quick clean at your end means a toy reaches a child days sooner at ours.

Bag the small pieces

Puzzle pieces, blocks and accessories into a zip bag, or tape the box shut. Loose pieces get lost.

Take the batteries out

Batteries leak in transit and can ruin everything else in the box.

Label it with your name

Your name and phone on the outside, so we can match the box to you and say thank you properly.

Our side of the deal

Checked, cleaned, and only then passed on

Nothing reaches a child that we wouldn’t hand to our own. Every box that arrives is opened, sorted and inspected before a single toy moves on.

  • Every toy inspected for damage, sharp edges and missing parts
  • Cleaned and sanitised before it’s packed for a child
  • Sorted by age, so a toy reaches a child it actually suits
  • Anything that doesn’t pass is recycled responsibly, never quietly passed along
  • You hear from us either way — including when something didn’t make it

Questions

Things people ask us

How many toys do I need to donate?
There’s no minimum. One well-loved puzzle is a real gift to the child who opens it. Send what you have.
Do you accept donations from outside Mumbai?
Yes — anywhere in India. We’re based in Mumbai, but the courier comes to your door wherever you are.
How much will the shipping cost me?
It depends on the size of your box and where it’s coming from. We’ll tell you the exact figure — your half of it — before anything is booked. No surprises, and no obligation to go ahead.
Can I get a tax receipt under 80G?
Not yet, and we’d rather say that plainly than leave you guessing. Our own NGO’s registration is still in progress, and 80G exemption only comes after that. The moment it’s in place, this page will say so.
Will I find out where my toys ended up?
Yes. Every delivery gets its own post on our blog, with the date. Tell us you’d like the link and we’ll message it to you when yours goes out.
What happens to toys you can’t pass on?
We tell you, and we recycle them responsibly. We won’t hand a child something broken just to keep a number looking good.
Can my school, office or building donate together?
Yes, and we’d love that — a group collection reaches a lot of children at once. Message us and we’ll plan the drive with you.
I’d rather give money than toys.
Every order in our shop already gives 2% to children’s education and wellbeing, so buying a gift for one child helps another. If you’d like to do more than that, message us and we’ll tell you exactly where it would go.
